If this sounds like you, we have just the assignment: a two-day membership training in Warsaw with Green organisations from across Europe and Eastern Africa — and we’d like you at the front of the room.

What the training is about
Members: how organisations recruit them, engage them, keep them, and grow them into the leaders of tomorrow. Over two days, participants — Green parties and Green network organisations at very different starting points — will map their engagement ecosystems, define what membership means for them, trace the member journey from first hello to leadership, and leave with a realistic one-year action plan.

Who we’re looking for
We are looking for trainers, facilitators, and practitioners with hands-on experience in membership development, member engagement, or volunteer and activist organising. We especially welcome:

• Party staff, organisers, and elected officials who have built or reformed membership systems, engagement pathways, or member communications in Green or progressive parties
• Facilitators experienced in participatory, interactive methods who can help participants map and analyse their own organisations rather than listen to lectures
• People with experience from movements, unions, NGOs, or campaigns whose approaches to engagement and retention can be applied to political parties
• Practitioners who have worked in contexts with limited resources, restricted political space, dispersed or diaspora memberships, or largely mobile and messaging-based communication

What you’ll do

• Shape and deliver interactive sessions over two days, and/or deliver specific sessions working with other trainers
• Guide participants through mapping their engagement ecosystem and member journey
• Help each organisation land on a concrete, realistic one-year action plan
• Work alongside fellow experts from across the Green movement

Themes to cover

• The engagement ecosystem — how people find you and move through different depths of engagement
• What membership means — statutes vs practice, and the value of members beyond supporters
• The member journey — from first hello to leadership, and where people get lost along the way
• From activities to engagement and action — connecting what organisations already do to deeper engagement

What we offer

• Travel and accommodation in Warsaw, plus a trainer fee
• A briefing on the participating organisations before the training, so your sessions can be tailored to their needs
• Timing just before the European Green Party (EGP) Congress, so you can combine the two
• Working language: English

Who we are

We are a political foundation affiliated with the Swedish Greens on a mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable democratic societies that live within the limits set by nature. We are based in Sweden but part of the international Green community, working with partners across more than 50 countries since 1995.

Recognising that historical power imbalances in traditional donor structures are often shaped by colonial legacies, we actively work to shift decision-making authority to local actors, challenging donor-driven agendas and treating local ownership not as a principle to declare but as a practice to uphold.

Who are you?

We are looking for Green political organisations with the ambition to grow their political influence. To be considered, applicants must:

• Demonstrate a clear commitment to Green political values, principles, and activities
• Be a registered Green political party, political foundation, think-tank, or civil society organisation with political ambition
• Be based in or directly working in a DAC country or countries
• Have a demonstrated track record of political or civic organising
• Engage in a relationship of mutual accountability, transparency, and co-development

Partners are selected upon a careful assessment of shared values, organisational maturity, programme relevance, and potential for impact. All funding decisions are made transparently and in line with our sub-granting and partnership principles.

Working in politically sensitive context

Green movements often operate in environments where political work carries real risk — from legal restrictions on civil society, to harassment, to outright repression. We do not shy away from these contexts.

If your organisation operates in a sensitive or restrictive political environment, you can expect from us full adherence to confidentiality, security and risk management, and flexible and adaptive programming.

How we select partners

1. Apply — Fill in the application form

2. Screening — Our review committee assesses all applications against our partnership criteria. Every applicant receives a response.

3. Interview — Shortlisted organisations are invited to an online conversation with the Green Forum team. This is a dialogue and a chance for both sides to ask questions.

4. Visit — Where there is strong mutual interest, our team will visit you in your context to understand your work on the ground.

5. Decision — Final selection is made by the Green Forum Board. All applicants — successful or not — are notified and may request feedback on their application.

6. Agreement — If both sides wish to proceed, a partnership agreement is developed jointly. The terms, scope, and timeline are shaped together.
